Mr. Kenneth L. Elrod

September 25, 1945 – December 3, 2022

Mr. Kenneth L. Elrod, age 77, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, formerly of Fort Payne, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022.

Kenneth was born on September 25, 1945 in Fort Payne, Alabama and graduated from Fort Payne High School in 1963. He then attended Jacksonville State University and earned his degree in 1967. His first job after graduating college was at Southern Academy in Greensboro, Alabama where he taught science, biology, and coached varsity basketball. After a short time there he eventually found his true career in Automobile Sales where he excelled for 40 plus years. Kenneth was an avid golfer and a huge fan of the University of Alabama football team.

He is survived by:

Wife: Linda Elrod

Children: Timothy Crawford & Jill Metcalf (Jay)

Sister: Margaret Houston

Grandchildren: Justin Metcalf (Holly) & Bradley Metcalf (Rhiannan)

Great-Grandchildren: Jaxson, Zoey, & Brayleigh

2 Nieces & Several Cousins

Preceded in death by:

Parents: Troy Elrod & Lucille Ambrester Elrod

Nephew: Kenneth Ray Houston

I’m so sorry to learn of Ken’s passing. I’ll never forget him, his quick wit, sense of humor and ability to tell jokes and make everyone laugh. He had a heart of gold and sincere compassion for others.
Ken, or as his students knew him, “Coach”, was my teacher, at Southern Academy, and years later my friend. Condolences to his family.
