Mr. James R. "JR" Wells

March 13, 1933 – September 15, 2026

James R. Wells, also known as “JR”, was born on March 13, 1933, in DeKalb County, Alabama. He passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026.

In his young adult years, JR operated a taxi service in Fort Payne, where he became a familiar and trusted part of the community. In his later adult years, he worked in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

JR will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, along with numerous family members and friends who were blessed to know him.

He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Wells; his parents, Lon and Minnie Wells; his sisters, Ruby Pell, Hazel Pickens, Lois Fraiser, and Myrtle Ruth Cymbulm; and his brothers, Willard Wells, Dillard Wells, Gains Wells, and Choice Wells.

JR will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
