Mr. Arland O. Carter

December 13, 1937 – May 11, 2021

Mr. Arland Odos Carter, age 83, of Brentwood, TN formerly of Fort Payne, AL, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. He was born on December 13, 1937 in Geraldine, AL to Jasper Odos Carter & Nora Buchanan Carter.

Mr. Carter was devoted and loving husband to his wife Barbara and cared deeply for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arland was a graduate of DeKalb Co. High School class of 1956. He was well known throughout DeKalb Co. and North Alabama for his football heroics! After graduation he attended The University of Alabama on a football scholarship and finished his collegiate career at Jacksonville State College as a two time All-American. Arland was also inducted into the DeKalb Co. sports hall of fame in 2003.

He is survived by:

Children: Sherri Leigh Carter, Gary L. Carter (Jean), & Marie Carter Pangle (Dwayne)

Grandchildren: Leigh Ann Putnam Williams,  Lindsay Abbott Putnam Qualls (Steven), Drew Carter (Heather), Brooks Carter (Paige), Charis AnnaMarie Knight, Haig Anthony Knight, Zack Pangle, & Stephanie Pangle

Great-Grandchildren: Josie Marie Jordan, Eleanor Paige Jordan, Jeffrey Carter Williams, Amelia Reese Qualls, Camryn Carter, & Case Carter

Brother: Robert “Bob” Carter (Susan)

Several Nieces & Nephews

Preceded in death by his loving Wife: Barbara Ann Locklear Carter
