Mrs. Edith Marie Dean

October 23, 1939 – July 28, 2026

Edith Dean, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, peacefully entered her Heavenly home surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.

Born on October 23, 1939, to Taylor and Mildred Laws, Edith lived a life defined by hard work, compassion, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. On June 25, 1954, she married the love of her life, John Wesley Dean. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with children: Doris, David, and Debra.

Edith was known by many as one the hardest-working women around. She spent countless hours mowing yards, caring for church grounds, and tending to cemeteries with pride and dedication. She believed that every place she touched deserved to be cared for with love and respect, and her work reflected that belief.

For many years, Edith also opened her heart and home to the children of her community. She lovingly cared for what seemed like half the town’s kids, providing, not only a safe place but also comfort, guidance, and unconditional love. To so many, she was much more than a babysitter-she was a second mother and a cherished part of their childhood.

Later in life, her greatest joy became being a full-time Granny. Her grandchildren & great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent loving, spoiling, and making memories with them. Her family was her greatest accomplishment, and her love knew no bounds.

Edith was a faithful member of Violet Hill Baptist Church and was honored to be one of its two oldest living members.

Edith will be remembered for her strong work ethic, generous heart, kind spirit, and the countless lives she touched through simple acts of love and service. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on in the family she adored, the children she helped raise, and the community she faithfully served.
