Mr. Steve Leon Watkins

September 8, 1948 – July 23, 2023

Steve Leon Watkins, age 74, of Valley Head, Alabama passed away on Sunday morning, July 23, 2023.

Steve was an Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam War. His favorite pastimes were metal detecting and spending as much time as possible with his granddaughters. He was a very hardworking and loving man who always had a story to share. He loved talking to people and was always there to help anyone who needed him.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Doris Louise and Elvis Watkins of Henagar.

Steve is survived by:

Wife: Patti Blalock Watkins

Daughter: Stephani Chaney (David)

Granddaughters: Isabella Chaney & Lorelai Chaney

Sister-in-law: Lynn Blalock

Nephews: Rocky Blalock, Jesse Blalock, Dylan Blalock (Linsay), & Jason Watkins

Great-Nieces: Addison Watkins & Olivia Blalock

The family is accepting flowers or donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org)

Just heard about Steve passing so sorry to here about that we use to hunt fish and just talk and of course worked many years together he was the kindest giving man I ever knew and a great friend also

I worked with Steve at the bakery. My oldest son will never forget going Indian relics hunting with Steve. We didn’t find a whole lot that day but Steve took a nice Arrow head out of his pocket and gave it to my son. He was a good MAN! Praying for the family.🙏
