Mrs. Linda Jean Yerkes Miller
January 18, 1952 – August 27, 2026
Linda Jean Yerkes Miller was born on January 18, 1952 to Norman and Helen Yerkes of St. Petersburg, Florida. She grew up near the beach, accompanying her parents to backyard Bible clubs with Child Evangelism Fellowship, and listening to what her parents probably considered scandalous music like The Beach Boys.
During her youth, Linda came to know and trust Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She graduated from Lakeview High School and then attended Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Alabama where she met her future husband Glenn and participated in the chorale group, something she enjoyed all through her adulthood.
Glenn and Linda married in May of 1973 and soon after moved to Mentone, Alabama to start Ponderosa Bible Camp where they served as directors for 24 years. During the offseason of camp, Linda served the children of DeKalb County Schools through Released Time, a program that allowed school children to hear the good news of Jesus’ person and work during school hours. She also served in her church teaching children through Sunday School, Children’s Church and VBS programs.
She spent most of her time raising four children and being a home maker. She was the tradition-keeper and holiday enthusiast of the family, making all the holidays special in their own way. For her children, she attended every school and extracurricular activity. She didn’t miss anything; she was so supportive and present. She also became a substitute teacher for both DeKalb County and Fort Payne City Schools, and was everyone’s favorite sub.
Eventually she became a grandmother to 13, almost 14 grandchildren, and had she lived a bit longer would have been able to meet her very first great grandson. “Grandma” is what they call her and she did a great job spoiling them with gifts, snacks, and special outings.
Linda was so generous – a great gift giver, and an encourager – she was her family’s biggest cheerleader. She had a way with words and often sent cards to others to encourage them. She loved her family, the children of this area, her church, and her Lord. So much of her life was spent telling others the good news of who Jesus is and what he did on the cross, and she would have no greater joy than to know that if you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, today would be the day of your salvation.

I am so sad about the loss of sweet Aunt Linda. I am praying for you all during this difficult time and look forward to seeing her again in heaven. I love you all! Carla
I am sending a note of endearment to the family and friends of a God - fearing woman I've grown to know as a spiritual mother . Over 13 years ago, I was introduced to you by my dear brother and sister in Christ (Curtis and Annie) Miller. I was struggling in a position of a single mother at the time. God knew exactly what was needed in life; and there you were to fill the shoes of a mother figure for me. Not only were you always available to encourage and uplift me out of dark seasons; you extended your family to merge with my son and I. Many nights of exhaustion with a desperate
need for a break; you would stand in the gap and make a way for my son and your grandson to grow up together and bond. There were many fun times and experiences shared that will forever be cherished with footprints on my heart. As a bonus, you were there to pour into my youngest, as she grows up with your grands. what a Honor and privilege to be surrounded by wisdom, beauty, character and witt. Your family is my family. . Thank you Mama Linda for countless spiritual investments in life. I am forever grateful Jehovah God blessed you to enter in my path to learn the meaning of Proverbs 31. This race that had been assir to you has ran its course. I can only imagine how it feels to hear the words.... Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant....Rest well from a job well done. Your life was most surely a life that sow seeds everywhere you were assist to be. I will miss our regular chats after service. The humbling advice; filled with wisdom and the outpouring of The Holy Spirit. We will forever carry you in our hearts.
your Spiritual Daughter, Tara
Jeremiah, and Eleezabeth. we all love you
She was a very good mother and Grandma too and she is going to be sadly missed by everyone who knows her
Rest in peace Grandma Linda until I meet you again on the golden side of heaven.

easy. wonderful memories of her
After my own mom passed I clung even tighter to you in my heart. I thought because I had already gone through grief and loss of a mother, I would be able to handle Mother Miller’s loss easily. When she went to see Jesus, I told my heart that it was supposed to stuff this grief into its reservoir. My mind was shocked, the reservoir was completely full! There was no room at all for me to hide or stuff this pain. I was profoundly shocked as my body responded to her loss.
I love you Mother. I am a better person for having known you. You took a piece of me with you, and I am groping to fill this gaping hole with Jesus.
Love,
Your daughter in love Annie ( Curtis Miller’s wife)
