Mrs. Ethel Manifold-Gregory

April 6, 1936 – January 21, 2025

Mrs. Ethel Manifold-Gregory, age 88, of Mentone, Alabama passed away at her residence on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

When Ethel was a senior at Valley Head High in 1952, the quote she chose “Knowledge is of no worth unless it is put into action” set the tone for the remainder of her life. Ethel had a desire to be busy doing good for others and served with love and grace. Her favorite times were when she was surrounded by family and church gatherings. She loved cooking, traveling, shopping, getting her hair done and hot fudge cake.

Reaching out to those in need would look like feeding a neighbor or opening her home to a stranger. Her generosity and ongoing outpouring of love has left a legacy to many.

Ethel studied at Thornton Jr. College/Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois, graduating in 1964. She served on TARCOG, Top of Alabama Regional Council of Government, local council of governments such as the Mayor of Mentone and then the Court Clerk. She was also on the board of directors for Alabama Municipal Court Clerks. She served many of her career years as a Licensed Appraiser, Realtor, and Broker while also serving years as the Church Clerk at Mentone Church of God.

Her faith and love for the Lord has been the foundation of her life, with the most important of all she accomplished being a Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother…and yes Great Great-Grandmother.

She is survived by:

Ethel was a very special friend. I just loved to be with her and experience her love for God. Her countenance revealed a serene, calm, loving, caring for others personality. Her life revolved around others: Jesus-others- yourself (herself) which said about her…J-O-Y which she had. I know of her love for her children and the deep love they had for her! Well done Ethel! Now you are enjoying all of the wonderful things heaven offers. So happy for you!!!!
