Mr. Samuel Grady Weldon Whatley, 77, of Mentone, AL passed away at his residence on September 24, 2018. He was born on January 7, 1941 to Edward & Mayfred Willingham Whatley. Mr. Whatley was a longtime member of the Mentone Fire Department & Desoto Rescue Squad.

Children: Garnett Lee Smith (Mickey), Karen Kay Powell (Richard) & Samuel E. S. "Hoss" Whatley (Valerie)

Grandchildren: Cassidy Marie Cox, Joseph Edward Hudgins, Megan Rose Brown, Brian Dale Smith, Jennifer Lynn Smith, Keisha Marie Dobbins, Kayla Nicole McKenzie, Alexander Tristan Whatley, Tiffany Shae Long & Daniel Robert Wilson
Great-Grandchildren: Kara Dawn Eberhart, Austin Brantley Cox, Dexter Lay, Colter Hudgins, Alexis Rose Brown, Ryder Alan McKenzie, Ryan Harrison Dobbins, Jasper Shane Loftey, Isabella Lachelle Smith, 1 Great-Grandchild on the way & 1 Great Great-Grandchild on the way

So sorry to hear about Sam. I haven't seen him in years and years but thought a lot of him. As a believer in God and Jesus I hope and pray to see him in Heaven some sweet day. I just learned this past April I have cancer like my father did and i am now taking radiation and chemo,. Thanks to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I am doing fine at this time. God Bless
