Mr. James Ray Young, age 82, of Valley Head, Alabama passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024 at his residence.

Mr. Young was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on January 8, 1942. He was retired from W. R. Grace Chemical Manufacturing where he worked as an electrician and was also a member of Violet Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by:

Wife of 63 years: Trula Young

Son: Charles Lebron Young (Joyce)

Daughter: Gayla Tinker

Grandchildren: Amanda Young, Ashley Johnson, & Angela Harneck (Jacob)

Great-Grandchildren: Douglas Scealf, Ruby Scealf, David Scealf, Destanie Johnson, Charles Johnson, Brody Johnson, & Krymson Johnson

Brother: Sonnie Young (Pat)

Preceded in death by:

Parents: Charles & Leola Wallin Young

Grandson: James R. Rhodes

Brother: Leslie Young

Sister: Beverly Jean Young

Pallbearers: Douglas Scealf, Charles Johnson, Jacob Williamson, Jacob Harneck, & Tyler White

Visitation Time: 4:00 PM-8:00 PM

Funeral Location: Violet Hill Baptist Church (11056 County Road 137 Valley Head, AL 35989)

Funeral Time: 3:00 PM for the funeral service, & Mr. Young will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM
