Founded in 1969, Burt Funeral Home is home owned and operated. Committed to handling all services with pride and dignity, we want to do all that we can to honor the memory of each and every loved one.

In 1982, we built our Valley Head Chapel to better serve families in North DeKalb County. This Chapel is conveniently located minutes from Mentone, Hammondville, Ider and Henagar.

R.J. Burt, Jr.

May 9, 1939 - August 31, 2009

Jr. served over 50 years in the funeral business. He owned and operated Burt Funeral Home in Ft. Payne for 40 years and Burt Funeral Home, Valley Head Chapel for 27 years. He also founded Burt-Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, AL in 1969 and sold his share to the Kerby Family in 1979. He also served as coroner for DeKalb County for 4 terms.
